Concrete Materials

The principal ingredients that make up the concrete mix are: cement, fine aggregate, coarse aggregate, water, chemical admixtures, and mineral admixtures. Concrete used in construction may also contain reinforcing bars, welded wire fabric (wire mesh), and various reinforcing fibers. The quality of the ingredients, their proportions, and the way they are mixed all affect the strength of the concrete.

ACCELERATOR COLD WEATHER ADDITIVE

HIGRO GUARD CEMENT ADMIX is a multi-purpose admixture which can be used any time during the year to improve the set time, early strength and workability of concrete.
It is especially effective during the colder months when the lower temperatures will effect the performance of concrete.
GUARD can be used with all standard brands of Portland, High Early, White or Air Entraining Cement as well as with special light weight aggregates.

HIGRO GUARD will:
INCREASE strength at all ages. Cut setting time in half. Increase plasticity and workability.
Harden and make concrete more resistant to weather, wear and dusting.
Multiply early strength at low temperatures.
Cure concrete integrally by reducing moisture loss.
Improve bond between successive pours.

HIGRO GUARD will always mkae a good cement product better with a saving of time and money.
It is not a substitute for proper design, material or workmanship.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE
For temperatures below 70°F, use one quart of HIGRO GUARD per bag of cement.
For Portland Cement Mortar, use a premixture of one part HIGRO GUARD to 15 parts water as the gauging liquid.

For cold temperature work, when the temperature is expected to drop down to:
32°F, use 1 part HIGRO GUARD to 16 parts water.
25°F, use 1 part HIGRO GUARD to 12 parts water.
15°F, use 1 part HIGRO GUARD to 10 parts water.
Below 15°F, use mechanical heat.

MEETS ASTM SPEC. C494-63T TYPE C.

SYNTHETIC MICRO-FIBER

Micro fibers are used for plastic shrinkage control (cracking that can occur in the first 24 hours of concrete cure), impact protection, and reduction of explosive spalling during a fire. The fibrillated micro fibers are often used in replacement of the lightest welded wire fiber (6x6 W1.4/W1.4) for temperature and shrinkage characteristics.
